D&D Encounter Building: Setting Difficulty and Challenge Rating

81K views • 7 years ago • 8:21 Let's face it, there's nothing sexy about math in D&D -- unless it's adding up 10d6 sneak attack damage from a critical hit. However, calculating the difficulty of an encounter for your players is a skill set that all DMs need. A slew of easy encounters or incredibly hard ones will get super old super fast for your players. Now, the Dungeon Master Guide and Xanathar's Guide to Everything do contain tables and formulas for setting the difficulty and challenge rating when you're building your encounters in Dungeons & Dragons 5e. However, punching the numbers manually is no fun. So about let's use some digital online tools for calculating D&D 5e encounter difficulty to do the work for us, eh? 🔥My Encounter Calculating Tool of Choice🔥 http://dhmholley.co.uk/encounter-calculator-5th/ 🔥My Discord Server🔥 https://discord.gg/Msat4NB ++++Subscribe for weekly DM tips and resources++++ https://www.youtube.com/thedmlair/?sub_confirmation=1 ++++My Published D&D Adventures++++ http://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/11812/Luke-Hart ++++Free D&D Adventures I've Made++++ https://www.thedmlair.com ++++Join me on Patreon++++ https://www.patreon.com/thedmlair ++++DungeonFog++++ Get 10% off DungeonFog, online RPG map-making software, with the promo code THEDMLAIR. https://www.dungeonfog.com/thedmlair 🔹Recommended Playlists🔹 Running the Game https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLo4-n9V0bKIXs9kxhJ3yIzshVowgCWMct Dungeon Mastering 101 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLo4-n9V0bKIUztUYU4ieN-Arxwo2K-YnS Creating D&D Adventures 101 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLo4-n9V0bKIU9DdKtSNhdJvlDs01ihWPc 🔹Follow Me on Social Media🔹 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thedmlair/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDMLair Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedmlair/ Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/LukeHart214 Subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/LukeHart214/ 🔹My D&D Actual Play Videos🔹 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl3AnQCn3R0qVMVn459E2mQ 🔹Video Schedule🔹 Tuesdays: New Video Alternating Fridays: Live Streams 🔹Credits🔹 Art: Wizards of the Coast Music and Sound Effects: https://www.audioblocks.com/ Video Clips: https://www.videoblocks.com/ As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
