Wizards and sorcerers and warlocks sling magic back and forth, raising battle to fantasical levels of excitement. Unless they are getting counterspelled, of course. I submit to you, dear dungeon masters and players, that counterspell is perhaps the number 1 fun-killer of D&D 5e. It is a game mechanic that falls into the horrific category of "not allowing people to play the game" that other spells such as banish also fall into. IMO, game mechanics that essentially take people out the game should be nearly universally avoided. Counterspell is one such game mechanic. #dnd #dnd5e #dungeonsanddragons #dungeonmaster #gamemaster
