LAIR CON 2022 October 7, 8, and 9 in Pensacola, Florida ▶▶ https://www.thedmlair.com/lair-con/ It's a simple thing. It is. Introducing the BBEG, Big Bad, Ultimate Villain -- whatever -- of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, and yet dungeon masters can easily do it in such a way that steals players' agency, puts them in the backseat of the game, and makes their choices meaningless. Almost every game master ever (including me) has introduced the BBEG of the campaign when the characters are low level, but this seemingly simple thing is fraught with pitfalls. In this video, we discuss one of the very best ways dungeon masters can steal agency (the ability to make meaningful choices and actions in the game) from their players, and why introducing the BBEG at low levels might be a very bad idea.
