Designing Gods for My D&D Setting

The redesign of my 5e D&D setting is underway. The world has been renamed Ichoros, and there is much in development. Gods, planes, afterlives, and other such large-scale concepts are something I really want to get right. Dungeons & Dragons is an amazing game in many ways … but throughout 5e’s lifespan, it has become more and more incoherent. Instead of fixing glaring holes and nonsensical worldbuilding that has been around since the game’s inception, it keeps piling on more and more stuff. We don’t need a multiverse to serve as a gimmick that explains why everything is wacky. We need things to just not be so wacky.
In this video, I present some thoughts regarding my approach to designing gods and spiritual forces in Ichoros. We also take a closer look at one god in particular, Argus the Watcher.
